I’ve never heard of the Niakwa Pizza on Pembina Hwy before Anny, one of our readers, sent it to us on a list of pizza places to try out. I wasn’t sure what to expect but went went for it anyways. Xal and I ordered a double mushroom chicken pizza.
I can say this for Niakwa Pizza, service is friendly, the toppings are fresh, the thin crust is crisp, and the over all pizza is not greasy at all. Unfortunately that is about all the good things I can say about the pizza. It had to be the most bland pizza I’ve ever had in my life, the sauce was watery, and the chicken was bland. I myself couldn’t finish any of it without dipping it in hot sauce or bbq sauce. It just wasn’t a good overall experience.

Upon further reflection it occurs to me that I have never been to Niakwa Pizza on Pembina. The above comment would better apply to Gondola Pizza on Pembina.
I have dined here, but can’t remember which pizza I ordered. What I do remember is fellow diners ordered the Hawaiian, which I felt was a better choice than what I had. There was some horse trading going on.
I think Niakwa is one of the best pizzas in the city. Their crust is excellent. I would agree that the sauce is pretty plain, but the toppings had enough flavour. (although, some spices in the sauce would be a good idea if anyone from Niakwa reads this…)
It really was quite unfortunate. I am all about the health side. It had great quality toppings, just sad to have it be sooooo plain.
Really with a sauce change, it has MAJOR potential.
I had heard good things about this place but had never tried it myself! Thanks for being the pioneer here. haha
